Sunday, September 1, 2013, 8.00 p.m. STRESA, CONGRESS HALL
G. Verdi, String quartet (transcr. for string orchestra) G. Rossini, Stabat Mater
Verdi’s Quartetto and Rossini’s Stabat Mater are unusual items in the output of these two geniuses. We usually think of Verdi as a great composer of lyrical works more than purely instrumental pieces. Similarly, Rossini is considered a champion of opere buffe and not a master of great “frescoes” of sacred music. And yet, here we are, faced with two absolute masterpieces where we can actually sense the grandeur of these composers. By showing us these unexpected skills, they stimulate us to unveil our own hidden talents, to develop them and put them to the service of everybody.
Gianandrea Noseda
Stresa Congress Hall is situated in the heart of the town, few meters from the railway station and from all the most important hotels and restaurants.
