PENNISIAnnamaria Pennisi began studying piano from her earliest years and in 2007 she graduated at the Conservatorio di Musica “F. Cilea” in Reggio Calabria. She started studying singing and in 2004 she brilliantly took her degree under Gabriella Grassi’s guidance at Conservatorio “A. Corelli” di Messina, then she graduated with first class honours in solo singing and in branches of music.She was among the winners of the 12th edition of the International Competition “Giuseppe Di Stefano” of Trapani when she obtained the honourable mention as young promise of belcanto and where she attended the specialization courses in opera interpretation with Maurizio Arena. She won the International Music Competition “Città di Tortona” and the “Lorenzo Perosi” Prize.
In June 2006 she made her debut of the role of Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia with the baritone Alessandro Corbelli in a summer production in Villa Leumann; she performed the same opera in D’Annunzio Theatre in Latina. In July 2006 she took part in a concert, on the occasion of the “Enrico Caruso” Prize, in Villa Bellosguardo in Lastra a Signa.
She has recently performed the role of Lola in La Cavalleria Rusticana in Teatro Sociale of Mantua under the direction of Elisabetta Maschio.
In 2009 she won the European Singing Competition organized by Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto “A. Belli”.
She has a very busy singing activity in Italy and abroad by performing not only pieces taken from the classical repertoire, but also contemporary, sacred and operetta music.
