The Associazione Settimane Musicali di Stresa - Festival Internazionale
is organising the
STRESA EARLab 2006 - Workshop of musical invention
Open to all composers and musicians of all nationalities and no older than 35
on 27th August 2006. The teacher will be Maestro Luca Francesconi. The Workshop
will be held in Stresa (VB) from 28th August to 8th September 2006. Lessons, in English, will be daily, as an indication from 10.00 to 13.00 and
from 15.00 to 19.00, both on an individual and workshop basis.
From 3rd September the Workshop will have the continual collaboration of BIT20 Ensemble.
Selected composers will be required to compose new works to conclude within
the period of STRESA EARLab under the supervision of Maestro Luca Francesconi,
as well as two cadences for classical Concerts for piano and orchestra.
A maximum of 7 active students and 10 listener students will be admitted.
For selection candidates will be required to present 2 compositions - one for
a solo instrument or small ensemble and one for a large ensemble/orchestra -
with relative recordings.
There will be several performances of the composition elaborated during STRESA
EARLab, all of which are part of the official planning of the 'Stresa Festival':
-
an original composition of brief duration destined for the Orchestra dell'Accademia,
a symphonic orchestra composed of 50 members (3rd September - in collaboration
with the Orchestral Conducting Masterclass given by Maestro Gianandrea Noseda);
-
two cadences for the piano Concertos KV 491 and 503 by W.A. Mozart (3rd September
- with the above-mentioned Orchestra);
-
six original compositions with the BIT20 Ensemble (8th September)
with the following components (indicative): flute/piccolo, oboe/English horn,
clarinet/bass clarinet, bassoon, horn, percussion, piano, violin, viola, cello.

Musicali di Stresa, Via Carducci, 38 - 28838 Stresa (VB) - Italy, by and no
later than 31st March 2006 including the following data:

receipt of the payment of € 50,00 (fifty/00), enrolment fee, which can be
made on postal account no. 17243288 or by national or international postal order.
The enrolment fee will be refunded only in the event the Workshop will not take
place.
It is strongly advised to send in audio and video material as evidence of the
candidates' experience.
Applications will be selected by the Commission, whose verdict will be notified
to all applicants by 15th April 2006.
The active students will pay € 500,00 (five hundred/00). The listener students
will pay € 100,00 (one hundred/00). Travelling and accommodation expenses must
be paid by the participants. Special conditions for hotel accommodation are
foreseen.
