With the work Septimal Ruben Burvenich, 21 years old, from Belgium, is the winner of the Fifth International Composition Competition “Settimane Musicali di Stresa” 2011.

Burvenich is the youngest winner ever of the Competition.

The International Jury, formed by Giorgio Battistelli (President), Gianandrea Noseda (Artistic Director), Edward Gregson (UK), Detlev Glanert (Germany) and Michaël Levinas (France), decided to award the Price among the several scores arrived from all over the world (America, Australia, Asia, besides Europe and of course Italy).

Septimal inaugurated the 50th Stresa Festival, on August 21: the Stresa Festival Orchestra conducted by Gianandrea Noseda, played it together with Brahms's Symphony no. 1 and Concerto no. 1 for piano, trumpet and strings by Shostakovich, performed by Alexander Toradze.
