Admitted candidates and course development

Open to young singers no older than 29 year on 22^nd August 2010, the object of the Academy is the realization of the opera Il matrimonio segreto by Domenico Cimarosa. It will be given by Natale De Carolis, with the assistance of Giulio Laguzzi (Music Collaborator of Teatro Regio Torino), with the participation of the pianist Antonella Poli (Music Collaborator of Accademia Teatro alla Scala di Milano) and the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana. Active students and listeners will be admitted.
Lessons will take place in Stresa (VB) from 23^rd August to 4^th September 2010. At the end of the Academy, the active students will perform the semistaged version of the opera with the orchestra on 4^th September 2010, in the context of the 49^th edition of the Stresa Festival.
The active students must arrive in Stresa on 22^nd August 2010.

The students will be selected for the following roles:

Carolina, soprano
Elisetta, soprano
Fidalma, mezzosoprano or soprano Falcon
Paolino, tenor
Geronimo, bass baritone
Robinson, bass

Admission procedure

Application form must be sent to the Segreteria dell’Associazione Settimane Musicali di Stresa, Via Carducci, 38 - 28838 Stresa (VB) – Italy, by and no later than 20^th April 2010 including the following data:

first name and last name
place and date of birth
nationality
two recent photographs
home address, phone numbers, e-mail address
curriculum vitae in Italian or English
letters of reference by important musicians
one video (VHS or DVD, Pal system) – if any – and one audio Cd testifying the experience of the candidate

The selected candidates will be notified for the audition within 15^th May 2010.

Audition and selection

Selected candidates will be invited to give an audition – date and place to be announced – within 20^th June 2010. Candidates shall sing an aria from the opera Il matrimonio segreto by Cimarosa and two arias by their own choice related to the historical period of Cimarosa. The organisation will arrange the accompanist pianist.
Two complete casts will be admitted, one for the performance and the other for covering.
The active students of the Academy must know their own part by heart since the first rehearsal.

Admission fee

The participation for the active students will be free.
The listener students will pay €250,00 (twohundredfifty/00).

Scholarship

The active students of the cast I will receive a scholarship. The scholarship will cover the expenses for meals and accommodation (in single room in hotel in Stresa) for the whole period of the Academy.
Concessionary rates apply to active students of the cast II and to listeners.
Travelling expenses must be paid by the students.
