What is Tango? Isn’t it strange that this art form, which seems so familiar, still paradoxically remains a mistery? As life itself – it is there, in front of us, we breath it, and yet it is still such a mistery.
Several years ago, while I was under the guidance of my Tango mentor Gustavo Beytelmann, I asked him the same question: “What is Tango?”. And the answer he gave me was: “It is difficult to explain, but I would say – the exaggerated articulation of rhythm”.
And it is the exaggerated articulation of rhythm-the rhythm of life. Life as we know it – with its sadness and humour, love and hatred, beauty and ugliness, tenderness and spitefulness, brutal and yet endearing, laughing through tears or bursting into tears in the middle of a hysterical laughter. This is Tango. It is us, human beings – arrogant and fragile, screaming for love. This is our Tango, the Tango of today.
Here we are, the four of us-on the scene in front of you. Come with us and you will find out. Just listen. We will take you on an intense journey around this Tango. The music is on the junction of tradition and modern sonority. It s a search in chamber music with all of the rhythmic and melodic elements of Tango. It is a journey in which each one of us gives his personal touch to give birth of a new style – Tanguarda.
