GabettaAn exclusive recording artist with Sony Classical, cellist Sol Gabetta already holds several impressive awards, among which three Echo Klassik Awards and the 2004 Crédit Suisse Young Artist Award for her debut with the Wiener Philharmoniker and Valery Gergiev. Her extensive discography encompasses highly acclaimed recordings of Shostakovich’s Cello Concertos with the Münchner Philharmoniker. Autumn 2012 saw the release of a duo recital recording with pianist Hélène Grimaud by Deutsche Grammophon.
Sol Gabetta performs today with leading orchestras and conductors worldwide. She has worked with the Bamberger Symphoniker, Kammerorchester Basel, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Recent highlights include residencies at Essen Philharmonie and Berlin Konzerthaus, debuts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Gulbenkian Orchestra and Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Sol Gabetta regularly works with conductors such as Giovanni Antonini, Mario Venzago, Charles Dutoit, Pablo Heras Casado and Thomas Hengelbrock. She plays at the world’s most prestigious festivals and has also founded her own chamber music festival, “Solsberg”, in Switzerland.
Highlights of this season include debuts with the Orchestre National de France, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Philharmonia Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra. She will return to the Münchner Philharmoniker under the baton of David Zinman, and to the Bamberger Symphoniker and Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. A recital tour with pianist Hélène Grimaud was a great success in 2012, and chamber music recitals at the Carnegie Hall and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam complete her season.
