AgrestaA winner of several music competitions, Maria Agresta made her debut in 2007. Her success was confirmed a few years later, in 2011, when she performed I vespri siciliani at the Teatro Regio in Turin, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda, with great reviews from public and critics. Since then, she has been invited to sing on the most important stages worldwide. Highlights include Norma in Tel Aviv, La bohème at the Arena di Verona, in Munich, at San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro Regio in Turin and the Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago, Gemma di Vergy at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, and Elvira in Don Giovanni at La Scala. She has sung Il trovatore in Valencia conducted by Zubin Mehta, Carmen in Masada and La traviata at the Berlin Staatsoper.
Recently she returned to La Scala in La bohème, where her enormous personal success led to further important engagements in Milan: Oberto Conte di San Bonifacio, Il trovatore and Otello conducted by Maestro Barenboim.
She was highly praised for her performance in the concert version of Giovanna d’Arco at the Musikverein in Graz and recently she sang Simon Boccanegra in Rome with Riccardo Muti, I Masnadieri and La bohème in Venice, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at San Carlo in Naples with Nicola Luisotti, and Oberto Conte di San Bonifacio at La Scala.
Her plans include new productions of I Puritani and La Bohème at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, Simon Boccanegra (new production) in Dresden conducted by Christian Thielemann, Otello and Norma in Zurich conducted by Fabio Luisi, I due Foscari in Wien with Placido Domingo as the Doge, Simon Boccanegra in Frankfurt, La bohème and Carmen at the Met, Otello in Valencia with Zubin Mehta, and La traviata at the Arena di Verona.
