la-divina-armonia The ensemble La Divina Armonia was founded by Lorenzo Ghielmi in 2005. The musicians all have extensive experience with baroque music, but are still enthusiastically open to new, unique creations. The group started out in Italy but soon moved on to play in Switzerland, Austria and Belgium. Since 2008 they have been guests at important events in Italy and other European countries – the Serate musicali in Milan, the International Festival in Aosta, Bozart in Bruxelles, Les Arts Renassants in Toulouse, Bach-Gesellschaft in Salzburg, the Oslo International Kirchenmusik Festival, just to name a few.
They record for the Belgian label Passacaille and their recordings of Händel’s Concerti Op. IV and Haydn’s Concerti have won widespread recognition (the Diapason d’Or, the Cd of the Month awarded by the German magazine Toccata and the Italian magazine Amadeus). The ensemble performed with the Tölzer Knabenchor under their conductor Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden in a program dedicated entirely to Haydn. In 2009 they recorded the first modern performance of the Passio secundum Joannem (St. John’s Passion - Naples, 1744) composed by Francesco Feo. The recording of this Italian baroque masterpiece enjoyed great success and they also played it in a European tournée to mark Lent 2010 (Basel, Oslo, Brussels, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Naples, Cuenca). The group recently inaugurated the Silbermann Festival in Dresden live on radio MDR with music by the major Italian baroque composers. This year they have been invited back to Salzburg and to the Festival of Ancient Music in Utrecht. A tournée in Japan is planned for 2013.
