The violinist Jószef Lendvay, born in 1974 in Budapest, grew up in a very musical family. He studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and Franz Liszt Academy in his home town, Budapest. The most important of his numerous awards at international competitions are: Amsterdam 1992; Award of Summer Academy Salzburg, 1994; Hungarian National Award for quality of musical performance, 1996; Winner of violin competition and Prize of the national music journalists, Scheveningen 1996; Winner of International Violin Competition of Switzerland 1997; First Prize in the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition 1997. In 2005, the German record industry awarded József Lendvay the Echo Klassik, one of Europe’s most distinguished music awards, for his Cd Lendvay and Friends.
József Lendvay was concertmaster and 1st soloist of the Philharmonia of the Nations. Together with this excellent orchestra he gave more than forty solo concerts around the world. He is a permanent guest soloist of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and performed with them in the USA, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary, Belgium, Liechtenstein and Austria.
Since 2006 Lendvay has been invited every year for more than twenty concerts in South Korea. With the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra he played in the 2006 Classica Spectacular concerts in Germany and Austria. In 2009 he debuted in the Carnegie Hall, New York with the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Iván Fischer. He gave several performances at the Musik Landschaft Westfalen 2009 (Germany) and played together with Justus Frantz and the Philharmonia of the Nations in several German cities and festivals.
József Lendvay plays the Stradivarius violin “Ex Ries” 1691, made available to him by the Reinhold Würth foundation.
