Pieranunzi-G Gabriele Pieranunzi was born in Rome in 1969. The public and critics hailed him as one of the best violinists of the latest generation. He won many prizes at important international competitions: Niccolò Paganini in Genoa, Tibor Varga in Sion, Ludwig Spohr in Freiburg, Giovanni Battista Viotti in Vercelli, Rodolfo Lipizer in Gorizia, and R. Romanini in Brescia. At the age of 16 he graduated from the G. Verdi Conservatory in Turin under Alfonso Ghedin and subsequently attended post-graduate courses with Salvatore Accardo, Franco Gulli and Stefan Gheorghiu.
Gabriele Pieranunzi performs regularly at the most important concert halls and chamber music festivals in Italy. These include the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, the Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia, Teatro dell’Opera, RAI and IUC in Rome, the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Società dei Concerti, Orchestra Sinfonica “Giuseppe Verdi” and Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, Teatro Carlo Felice and Gog in Genoa, Unione Musicale in Turin, Orchestra da Camera of Mantua, Amici della Musica of Perugia, Padova and Palermo, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana of Palermo, Teatro S. Carlo in Naples, Teatro Grande in Brescia, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Regio of Turin, Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Settimana Musicale del Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Settimane Internazionali di Musica da Camera at Villa Pignatelli in Naples.
He has performed with many conductors including Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli, Lu Jia, Aldo Ceccato, Julian Kovathev, Alun Francis, Matthias Bamert, Gianandrea Noseda, Piero Bellugi and Jeffrey Tate, and with soloists such as Boris Belkin, Bruno Canino, Rocco Filippini, Franco Petracchi, Pietro Borgonovo, Alessandro Carbonare, Andrea Lucchesini, Laura De Fusco, Luis Claret, Rainer Kussmaul, Ingo Goritzki, Alain Meunier and Alfons Kontarsky, Alda Caiello and Nelson Goerner.
In 2004 he was appointed Konzertmeister (Concert master) to the Teatro San Carlo Orchestra in Naples. He also often serves as concert master with the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia and Opera Theatre in Rome.
He performed at the Stresa Festival in 2000, 2001, 2003 and in 2009.​
