GattiDaniele Gatti has been Music Director of the Orchestre National de France since September 2008. In September 2009 he assumed the position of Chefdirigent of the Zurich Opera. Daniele Gatti was Music Director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from 1996 to 2009, Music Director of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome from 1992 to 1997, Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden between 1994 and 1997 and Music Director of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna from 1997 to 2007. He has a close relationship with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Royal Concertgebouw orchestras, appearing in their concert seasons as well as on tour. He also regularly conducts the finest American and German orchestras.
He has conducted several new productions for the Vienna State Opera (Simon Boccanegra, Moses und Aron, Otello, Boris Godunov) and at Munich’s Bayerisches Staatsoper (Aida, Fidelio). At La Scala he has conducted Lohengrin, Wozzeck, Don Carlo (opening night of 2008/09 season) and Lulu. In Zurich he recently conducted new productions of Falstaff and Parsifal. In 2008 he premièred Parsifal at the Bayreuth Festival (revivals in 2009, 2010, 2011).
During the next two seasons Daniele Gatti will conduct a Brahms cycle with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (German Requiem and four symphonies) to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the Society of Music Friends of Vienna, of which Brahms was music director. He appears with the Royal Concertgebouw, Bayerische Rundfunk, Philharmonia and Boston Symphony Orchestras. He conducts La bohème in Salzburg in 2012 and a symphony concert with the Mahler Jugendorchester. Forthcoming new opera productions include Otello, Die Meistersinger von Nurenberg, Mathis der Maler in Zurich and Falstaff at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden. With the Orchestre National de France he will complete the Mahler cycle in Paris, conduct Parsifal in concert version at the Theatre des Champs-Elysées and tour extensively in Europe and the USA.
