The Quintetto dell’Opera di Milano has been founded in 2004. The establishment of this ensemble is due to an idea shared by all of its components: after having passed several years in the pit of Teatro alla Scala, mystical gulf of orchestra professors, they wished to climb on stage, becoming protagonists and interpreters of the arias and sonetti that enchant melomaniacs of all nationalities. The horn becomes a contralto, the trumpet becomes a tenor or a soprano, the trombone a baritone, the low tuba sings the lowest notes.
The mission of the five musicians is to play music together having fun, creating a pleasant repertoire, close to the public's taste.
Besides playing transcriptions of opera repertoire, the ensemble eclectically performs different music styles: from music of the Reinassance and Baroque periods to melodic jazz, crossing the boundaries of classical taste, often presenting popular compositions such as pop songs, extracts from musicals and soundtracks.
The union between important composers and conductors is the peculiar characteristic that has been guiding, the Quintet in its artistic research of repertoire. Often the new transcriptions and arrangements are composed by members of the quintet. The audience is guided in a musical journey through time and different cultures with the help of a narrator, whose words lead listeners to a higher awareness of the presented compositions.
The Quintetto dell’Opera di Milano has performed for a great number of associations and musical seasons in Italy and abroad, obtaining success and enthusiastic reviews.
