Diploma recipient at the International “Rimsky-Korsakov” Opera Singer Competition (1984, St Petersburg), Nadezhda Vassilieva is born in Kazakhstan. Graduated from the St Petersburg State “Rimsky-Korsakov” Conservatoire in 1984 she has been a soloist with the Sverdlovsk Lunacharsky Opera and Ballet Theatre from 1984 to1986 and carried out an assistantship with Kovaleva at the St Petersburg Conservatoire between 1991 and 1993.
Mariinsky Theatre soloist since 1993, her repertoire include characters roles such as the Hostess of the Inn in Boris Godunov, Smeraldina in The Love for Three Oranges and particularly The Duenna in the Betrothal in a Monastery by Prokofiev, a role she has also presented at the Teatro Regio, Turin in 2004 under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda.
Nadezhda Vassilieva has toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company and independently to Germany, Italy, Japan, Usa, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the Uk.
