Baritone Josep Cabré studies with Christopher Schmidt and Kurt Widmer in Basel, and, later, with Jordi Albareda in Barcelona, his home town. He works on a regular basis with ensembles specialising in Middle Ages and Baroque music, such as Daedalus, Le Concert Lorrain, Seminario Musicale, The Orchestra of the Renaissance, Il Teatro Lirico and also La Fontegara. Likewise, he collaborates with composer and guitar player Feliu Gasull and with organ player Jean-Charles Ablitzer. Founder and music director of Compañía Musical, ensemble specialising in repertoires that range from plainsong to Baroque cantata, he is conductor, together with musicologist Jon Bagüés, of the San Sebastián-based Capilla Peñaflorida, which gives concerts and records Spanish repertoires of the 16th and 17th centuries. Finally, he is professor at Musikene, Higher School of Music of the Basque Country.
