OsbornAmerican tenor John Osborn has gained international acclaim in performances with leading theatres around the world including the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Berlin State Opera, L’Opéra National de Paris, San Francisco Opera, Zurich Opera, Theatre de la Monnaie, and at the Salzburg Festival. He made a spectacular debut with the Accademia di Santa Cecilia as Arnold in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell in concert performances under Antonio Pappano in 2007.
John Osborn began the current season as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and then made his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in Les Pecheurs de Perles where he was also heard as Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia. He sang Arnold in Guillaume Tell at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, and sang the title role of Rossini’s Otello for Opera de Lyon as well as Ramiro in La Cenerentola in Nice. He returned to the role of Goffredo in Armida at the Metropolitan Opera as well as to Opernhaus Zurich for La Juive, and to La Monnaie for Les Huguenots.
Other recent engagements for Osborn have included Leopold in La Juive at the Netherlands Opera, his debut at the Houston Grand Opera as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Arnold in Radio Vara’s performance of Guillaume Tell as well as Ramiro in La Cenerentola for Opernhaus Zurich. He sang his first performances of the title role of Rossini’s Otello for Opera de Lausanne and also returned to the Metropolitan Opera as Goffredo in the new production of Rossini’s Armida. He made his debut in Cagliari as Arturo in I puritani, and sang concert performance of Donizetti’s rarely performed Caterina Cornaro in Amsterdam and made his role debut as Des Grieux in Massenet’s Manon for the Teatro Colon.
