luciani.jpgFulvio Luciani has studied violin with Paolo Borciani, first violin of the highly acclaimed Quartetto Italiano, with Franco Gulli and with Norbert Brainin of Quartetto Amadeus. Fulvio Luciani has been founder and first violin of Quartetto Borciani, ensemble that has been performing regularly in the most important musical institutions from 1984 to 2005. He has given concerts as a soloist worldwide, released important recordings, participated in radio and television programmes, commissioned and premiered several compositions and given courses and master classes.
Fulvio Luciani has performed for institutions such as Teatro alla Scala, Società del Quartetto of Milan, Teatro San Carlo of Naples, Teatro Regio, Unione Musicale of Turin and MiTo Settembre Musica, Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto, Biennale Musica of Venice, Concerti del Quirinale di RadioTre, Orchestra Verdi of Milan; he has been invited by Pomeriggi Musicali in two consecutive concert cycles and in this occasion, both as soloist and conductor, he has premiered Lydia by Fabio Vacchi. He has released recordings for RaiTre and for RaiSat. In 2006 he has recorded his first Cd as soloist, with the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali conducted by Carlo De Martini, for the label La Bottega Discantica.
He has been called to take part of the jury of the International Competition “Premio Paolo Borciani” in Reggio Emilia. He has chosen the compositions and edited the recording of the music for Bontempelli’s La guardia alla luna, which has been created by Luca Ronconi and produced at Piccolo Teatro of Milan in collaboration with Teatro Sociale of Como. He has participated to the reconstruction and editing of Puccini’s Quartetto published by Ricordi, which Quartetto Borciani has premiered.
He collaborates with pianists such as Riccardo Zadra, Antonio Ballista, Paolo Bordoni and Massimiliano Motterle, and with cellist Stefano Guarino. With Luigi Spagnol he has founded the ensemble Duo Bibo.
He teaches violin at the Conservatory of Milan and plays an instrument constructed by Andrea Gisalberti during the early 18th century. He is the artistic director of the Concerts of Torre Sacchetti.
Among future projects: a first recording for Naxos of Pizzetti’s Concerto with Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Myron Michailidis and a complex project regarding music for solo violin and music for violin and electronics in Trieste.
He performed at Stresa Festival with Quartetto Borciani in 2003.
