PorteraAndrea Portera studied flute and composition at the Conservatory “Luigi Cherubini” in Florence, following the course with Salvatore Sciarrino. He studied at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole with Kamran Khacheh and Giacomo Manoni. He has been acknowledged by such composers as Berio, Fedele, Vacchi, Abbado, Bussotti, Luis de Pablo, Nishimura, Rihm, Corghi, Halfter, Osokawa.
He's been awarded in more than twentyfive composers' competition, among the others the Camillo Togni, the Viotti, the Evangelisti, the Bucchi (for which he received the Honorary Medal by the Italian Republic Presidency). He was second best at the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award, Lutoslawski Award and many others.His works have been performed by the Tokio Philarmonic Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Slovak Radio, the Estonia National Orchestra, Orchestra of Colors (Athens), Spco Chamber Orchestra in Minnesota, Gaudeamus Ensemble.
He's been published by Suvini Zerboni, Hudobne Centrum Slovakia and has been Visiting Professor of Music Design at the University of Architecture in Genoa. He is an author of music didactics' textbooks for Le Monnier and Mondadori Publishing. He works as graphic for the magazine Chitarre.
He teaches Music Analysis, Harmony and Counterpoint and Music Word Processor at the Fiesole Music School. His catalogue includes more than eighty works.
