Roberto Prosseda’s recent sensational discovery of new Mendelssohn works made headlines in Europe and lead to his two Decca releases. His Mendelssohn Discoveries album (2005) has been included in the top 10 Mendelssohn piano recordings by the English magazine Piano. Mendelssohn Rarities (2006) received highest ratings in European and American music magazines including Classicstoday, Diapason, Amadeus and Fono Forum.
Mr. Prosseda concertized extensively in Europe in 2007 and 2008. His highlights included Mendelssohn premieres in concert and recital with solo appearances at the Berliner Philharmonie, the Berlin Kammerphilharmonie, Leipzig Gewandhaus, London Wigmore Hall, Milano Teatro alla Scala and Sala Verdi, Music Toronto, Canada, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Festival Pianistico di Bergamo e Brescia, Settembre Musica in Torino, Ravenna Festival, Triennale Köln and Biennale di Venezia.
Recently, he has performed as orchestral soloist with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Kammerorchester, Filarmonica della Scala, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Mozarteum Orchester, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Regionale Toscana and the Filarmonica di Torino.
He is frequently invited to present lectures and master classes at universities and conservatories (Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, Northern Illinois University in Chicago, and Georgetown University, Washington, DC, British Columbia in Vancouver, Xing Hai Conservatory in Canton, Williams College and the Australian National University).
In the forthcoming 2008/09 season Mr. Prosseda will make his orchestral solo debut with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic, the Flamish Radio Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, in addition to tours in Latin America, and China.
His Decca recordings also include a Chopin album, a double Cd with Mendelssohn’s complete Lieder ohne Worte and the World Premiere recording of Mendelssohn’s E minor Piano concerto with the Gewandhaus Orchester and Riccardo Chailly (release: spring 2009).
He performed at Stresa Festival in 2005.
