Andrea Portera began his studies at the School of Music in Fiesole. His production (his catalogue currently contains over 100 scores) won acclaim and awards from big names in the music world, and was in fact awarded by Berio, Fedele, Rhim, Morricone, Nishimura, Corghi, Bussotti, Halfter, Vacchi, Sciarrino, Noseda, Claudio Abbado, Luis De Pablo and others. He has won more than thirty international awards, including first prizes at the Settimane Musicali di Stresa, Fourth Competition; “a Camillo Togni”; “G. Viotti”; “Bucchi”; VII “Evangelisti”; II “Strumenti di Pace”; III “Ciani”; VII “Carella”; Alexander Moyzes Award; “Marenco” and others. He took second prize in the “Toru Takemitsu” contest, and the “Lutoslawski” Award; third prize at the International “Lepo Sumera” composition contest. In 2002 he received a silver medal from the President of the Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, and in November 2006, a gold medal from the Heritage Department of the City of Brescia, then in April 2012 the Silver Gigliato awarded by the city of Prato. Recently, the Botin Foundation (Santander, Spain) awarded him the prestigious international “Arturo Vital Duo”.
