2005 Composition Competition Print

Paola Calderone is the winner of the Second International Composition Competition Settimane Musicali di Stresa - 2005 with the work Lucientes.

The International Jury, with Azio Corghi President and Gianandrea Noseda Artistic Director, decided to award the Price among the forty-eight scores arrived from all over the world.

The other Jury members were the British Robin Holloway, the Finnish Magnus Lindberg and the Polish Zygmunt Krauze, substituting for the Spanish Luis de Pablo who had to give up for a sudden illness.

The number of scores is of great success for the Competition, which doubles the scores which came for the first edition.

Paola Calderone, 33, from Milan, graduated in Piano and in Composition, is already a winner of other international competitions. Many compositions of hers have been commissioned and performed in several festivals of contemporary music in Italy and abroad.

premiaz05.jpgThe winning work Lucientes was performed during 2005 Festival, on August 27th in Stresa Conference Hall by the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai conducted by Vasily Petrenko. Rai RadioTre broadcasted the whole concert, Lucientes was published by Rai Trade Edizioni Musicali.

The Competition jury has also awarded a special mention to the composition entitled Somnium by Silvia Colasanti.
