The Stresa Music Academy offers this year Il barbiere di Siviglia, which is an hard task, for the Opera is extremely popular. I’d like to point out that its staging is linked to the ability of each singer; having no décors at disposal, the work has been based on the theatrical skills of each character. The young singers chosen have all good qualities and an age between 23 and 28.
We will tell you a funny story but more than this we will try to let the human and sometimes suffering sides of some of the characters emerge. It’s an in-depth study which surely causes thousands of troubles to the young affording this masterpiece. But this is the Academy: trying to infuse the participants with the energy to go beyond the surface of what they see or have already seen.
It’s an historical, musically flawless Opera which makes us smile, get excited, question ourselves, wonder... but in the end which one will win, Power or Love? Our task will be just one: to discover the text and donate it with generosity and passion in the name of Rossini, who gave us this incredible masterpiece! Come on, let’s go... to the Opera!
