alberghini.jpgSince making his debut at the Teatro Regio in Turin in I Capuleti e i Montecchi in 1993 and winning the “Operalia” competition in 1994, the Bolognese bass-baritone Simone Alberghini has gone on to appear in major houses in both Europe and North America.
He recently sung Dandini in La Cenerentola at the Glyndebourne Festival conducted by Vladimir Jurowski, Escamillo in Carmen with Taormina Arte, Athanaël in Thaïs with Kentucky Opera, and Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte at Berlin’s Staatsoper Unter den Linden. He was Marchese di Forlimpopoli in a rare performances of Martinů’s Mirandolina at the Wexford Festival, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Opéra Théâtre d’Avignon and his debut with Los Angeles Opera as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia and subsequently Capulet in Romeo et Juliette.
Mr. Alberghini appears in most important theatres both in Europe and in USA under the baton of conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Vladimir Jurowski, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa and Michael Tilson Thomas.
Mr. Alberghini’s orchestral appearances include performances of the Verdi Requiem with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Giuseppe Sinopoli and with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano under Riccardo Chailly. He performed Schubert’s Mass no. 6 with the Orchestra della Toscana, Rossini Stabat Mater and Colline in concert performances with the London Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas.
In the 2005/06 Simone Alberghini made two important house debuts firstly with the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Dandini in La Cenerentola, conducted by Antonello Allemandi and then in Philadelphia as the Count in Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Carlo Rovaris.
Recent seasons include performances of Così fan tutte (Lisbon), Elisir d’amore (Denver), La Fille du Regiment (Washington). In April 2008 he was Aristotele Onassis in the opera Jackie’O in Lugo.
Among his future engagements: Les contes d’Hoffmann, (Turin, Teatro Regio), La gazza ladra and Don Giovanni (Bologna, Teatro Comunale).
