capitanucci.jpgFabio Maria Capitanucci won in 1998, at 23 years old, the 52nd Singing Competition of the Teatro Lirico “Adriano Belli” in Spoleto (Italy). Shortly after he entered the Accademia di Perfezionamento per Cantanti Lirici del Teatro alla Scala, in Milan, which he attended from 1999 to 2001. In 2002 he was awarded the “Renato Bruson” Prize at its first edition.
He is a regular guest at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where he has debuted as Marcello in La bohème, Cavalier Belfiore in Un giorno di regno¸ Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Lescaut in Manon by Massnet, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.
Further he has also appeared in numerous other Italian, European and American opera houses: in Elisir d’amore (Belcore) in Frankfurt, in Il viaggio a Reims (Don Alvaro) in Genoa, in La bohème in Genoa, Dresden, Madrid, Arena di Verona and Atlanta (Usa), Le nozze di Figaro (Conte) in Turin and Dresden (new production) and in Palermo (Figaro), in Madama Butterfly (Sharpless) in Dresden, in Candide (Maximilian) in Genoa, in Roberto Devereux in Pamplona; in Così fan tutte (Guglielmo) in Hamburg and Genoa, in Falstaff (Ford) and Cenerentola (Dandini) in Dresden, in Lucia di Lammermoor (Enrico) in Marseille, in Don Pasquale (Malatesta) at the Florida Grand Opera in Miami and in Genoa.
From 2005 he is regularly invited at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where he has sung: Arrighetto (Corrado) by Carlo Coccia, La cambiale di matrimonio (Slook), Edipo Coloneo by Rossini.
Fabio’s recordings include Gina by Francesco Cilea for Bongiovanni, La bohème in Dvd for Opus Arte, La cambiale di matrimonio for Stradivarius, I Medici by Ruggero Leoncavallo for Deutsche Grammophon.
