enricop.jpgBorn in Rome in 1949, Enrico Pieranunzi is since years one of the most appreciated and well-known protagonists of the international jazz scene.
Pianist, compositor, arranger, he has recorded more than 70 Cds to his name being a soloist or playing in trios, in duets and quintets. He has collaborated, performing live or in recording studios, with Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Marc Johnson, Joey Baron, Paul Motian, Charlie Haden, Chris Potter, playing in the most important international festivals, from Montreal to Copenhagen, from Berlin to Madrid to Jerusalem.
He has been elected best Italian musician in 1989 and in 2003 during the referendum “Top Jazz”, announced every year by the musical review “Jazz Music”. Furthermore, he is the winner of the   “Django d’Or” 1997 as best European musician. In 2005, this prize has been given to him also by the Guinness Festival of Cork, Ireland. He has played in the most important European festivals and, several times, in the United States. Important to mention are his performances at New York's Birdland in 2006, with Marc Johnson and Paul Motian, and his participation at Spoleto Usa 2007. This event has given a complete portrait of this artist, presenting him to the public as a soloist, in a duo and in a trio. In 2004 he has embarked, with Marc Johnson and Joey Baron, on a tour in Japan during which the live Cd Live in Japan (CamJazz) has been recorded. The last Cd he has realized (Enrico Pieranunzi plays Domenico Scarlatti) contains interpretations of the Sonatas composed by the great Neapolitan musician and original improvisations inspired by them.
